You are tapped into the listening ears podcast with your host. Me: Vernae Bezear. Being honest with yourself, I think is the hardest pill to swallow. It takes a level of patience, love and grace, that many of us don't have f or ourselves, but we definitely have for others. We can give someone advice in a heartbeat, let them know w here their blind spots are, give them pointers a nd how they should live, but we can't do the same for ourselves. Well, at least I couldn't. I have to say that this has been the most difficult part of my entire life. And if you really know me, then you know that there have been some really difficult times, but for me, this has been the most difficult by far being honest and vulnerable at the same time, making choices that impacted my life in such a way and being happy at the same time, was a whole lot. In order for me, to be honest with myself, I had to be honest about what I wanted, which for me was difficult because I didn't know. I just knew that whatever this was, wasn't it. I had to be honest with others about boundaries and things that may have been accepted, but Will no longer be accepted by me. Being honest required me, to be honest about my limits, what I'm struggling with, what I can do, what I can't do, what I need and who can give that to me, these questions are still being asked and answered. People in general aren't honest with themselves for many reasons, most of the time it's centered around feelings of shame or guilt about whatever the thing is. Sometimes it's uncomfortable, Nobody, nobody wants to look inside and look inside and feel and sit with emotions and be in it and in them. It doesn't feel good at all. It's super uncomfortable, but it's absolutely necessary for complete honesty with yourself and thinking about my journey, the journey that I'm on right now, about my journey with honesty, or I would say my journey to happiness. I think for me, not only was it a hard pill to swallow for myself, but I think in my relationships with others as well, being honest about what I wanted out of myself and my career and just everything was a hard pill to swallow for people around me. And it may be that way for you, but it's okay! Here are three ways, to be honest with yourself today, number ONE, live your dreams. Now I know that sounds like. Really live your dreams, but yeah. Live your dreams. What is it that you want to do? Do it stop waiting for tomorrow or when the kids graduate or I don't know, summer vacation, just do it. You want to write that book, write the book, cook that meal and record it and be a, a top chef, whatever it is. Just go out there and, and live it. Number TWO, be hyper hyper aware of your self talk. This is where I am still a work in progress with, but the way you speak to yourself and when you look at yourself, when you hear yourself, when you do something, it, it all matters, right? It's it's, it's ingrained in, in our heads. Be aware of it. Be aware of how you speak to yourself. Are you showing yourself love? Being honest, requires patience, love and grace. Those are things we have to show ourselves. And that starts with the self talk. And number THREE, listen to your feelings. Feelings are, are there for a reason. We talk about fight or flight. That's the feeling, right? That's the feeling we get when that adrenaline is kicking in, what, what happens do we do we, do we run? Do we pass out? Do we jump into it? It's, it's a feeling you can't Push them down. You can't stamp them out. You can't go around and say, I'm fine. It's fine. It probably isn't three ways. To be honest with yourself today, live your dreams. Be hyper aware of your self talk and listen to your feelings.
